I use this for urban exploring - a couple of times recently I've found myself exiting Tube stations or buildings by a different door to where I came in, and not sure which way is which, especially if it's overcast :) My phone compass is unreliable, and this little compass quickly gets me my bearings. It's small and light and fits into my bumbag and can be accessed very quickly
