Is the rc500 bike designed for bikepacking?

Yes, this bike was designed for bicycle touring on roads, including bikepacking. That means you can install light bags, for example on the saddle, on the frame, and on the handlebars. Thanks to its comfort, the RC500 is the perfect companion for long journeys in the saddle. This bike is not however a bike for travelling. We do not recommend overloading it with larger travel bags on the pannier rack, for example.

AVOID-CANNOT CHANGE THE TYRES- NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE

This seems to be a great bike with one major issue, the tyres are too small for the wheels or the wheels are too big for the tyres. Im unable to change the tyres without pinching at least 2-4 innertubes each time. Minimum of 2 hours, no chance at the roadside.

Avoid this Bike

When I bought this bike, I thought It was the best option in the market for this money. Everything looked nice, and I was happy until I had a puncture and my problems with the tubeless-ready wheels started. I realised that repair a puncture wasn't easy at all comparing with any of my previous bikes. As you can read in other comments, the tubeless-ready wheels are not the easiest for an inner tube replacement. After three months of using the bike, one of the spokes of the rear wheel brake and I replaced it in a very well known workshop. In the beginning, I thought it was normal and I continued using the bike as usual. Some days later, another 2 spokes broke, I had to bring the bike back to the workshop, so I decided to contact Decathlon to know if everything was fine with the wheels. Decathlon confirmed a manufacturing problem with the wheels and they offered me a wheel replacement for free. After more than 6 months of waiting for a new wheelset replacement and being in contact with Decathlon many times, I have always received the same answer from them. We will contact me once they have stock of the wheels. I am still waiting..... From my point of view, if you add the price of a new set of wheels to the cost of the bike (approx. 850-900£), I think you can find better options in the market. So I wouldn't recommend this bike to anyone looking for a new bike to start cycling or commuting.

dangereux
