Brilliant pair of first time climbing shoes!

Firstly, I want to start by acknowledging that the reviews on here are quite misleading - so you’re probably reading this after a hard time of sifting through a lot of ambiguity. So I’ll do you a favour and try and keep this to the point. I’m going to cut to the chase and say I think these are a great pair of climbing shoes. Are they the best out there? No. Could they be better? Absolutely. Should you get these if you’re an experienced, well versed climber looking to accomplish more challenging climbs? No - go for something more expensive which will give you better quality. However, if you’re a beginner climber, who’s looking to expand into the hobby, like I was when I purchased these shoes (nearly a year ago now and they are still going strong), these will be absolutely perfect for you. They get the job done and are a damn sight better and more comfortable than the rentals you’ll find at climbing centres. Additionally, they are good value for money and it really works out if you plan to climb regularly. Obviously after a year of frequent bouldering, there has been wear and tear, but these have served me well. Even after pushing them further than they’re designed to go in terms of climbing intensity, the shape still holds well and they still feel good and maintain their grip. I have enjoyed them throughly and I’ll definitely miss them when I upgrade to a more expensive pair, but I would definitely recommend these if you are new to the sport and just want a decent pair of shoes for a good price. All in all, they are great pair of shoes and work well for beginners, but maybe look at something more expensive if you’re experienced and looking to push yourself.

Good value, but lose shape and become soft

I wear an 8.5 street size and bought these in an 8 as an upgrade on the rock+ shoes. originally they gave me more precision and i could stand on little edges and chips but they have since gone quite soft and lost downturn. now they are good for smearing on grit and volumes in gym, but i need some stiffer shoes so i don’t break my toes on little edges. also they lost their shape and downturn very quickly.

Comparable performance to sportiva Miura

I bought a pair 7 months ago and love the performance, they run on the narrow side and it a little painful but the performance is amazing, I have my super expensive sportiva Miura XX and can say that some time I feel better with the vertika. The only problem is lack of durability, the construction is far war worse than any sportiva shoes, but the difference in price worth it!!

Vertika Shoes

I always used La Sportiva Miura VS, but I didn't want to spend so much money for a pair of shoes to use it in the climbing gym. I discovered a really really good shoe so similar to the Miura VS. The Vertika are really confortable, precise and with a really good price. Can't wait to try it outdoor.

Worst Climbing Shoes Ever

The title says it all. I don't think the designers ever tried these shoes for climbing. It has been 3 months, and it is going to bin.

Hello Balkose Ayse,

I am sorry to hear that the Vertika Climbing Shoes were not up to the standard that your required. Would you be able to send me more details as to why you are unhappy withe the Vertika climbing shoes so that I can pass this on to the designers.

Many thanks and once again apologies for the Vertika's not meeting your expectations.

way too small, complicated return process....

im size 10, got 9.5, don't fit and started an "exchange". Given the only option to send the 9.5 by post, which you have to pay for as they dont supply a returns sticker. It should be a simple case of dropping the shoes off at my local decatholon store. Called up my local decatholon store to find this out btw as I never got a email back from 2-3 days ago. I think I have also been charged for the new shoes that were a planned echange.

Replacement for Vaurde Plus Slipper

I'd previously had the Vaurde Plus slipper but couldn't get on with it due to its single velro fastening which gave poor stability so swoipped to the Vertika slipper which is much better with the twn velcro fastening albeit they are a bit long. The boot is comfy yet tight and so far I don't get much roll on small holds.Climbing in the HVS - E2 F6A-6B category. Friction seems good but its still early days and I'm not sure how much stretch there will be in the boot. Seems a good buy for the money.

Decent climbing performance, poor build quality

Bought these 1.5 years ago. Used them for about 1 year of that time, indoor bouldering about twice a week. Pros: - Excellent grip. Love the rubber. - Shape of the sole is good. Concentrates force well at the big toe. Has enough space for a slightly wider foot. - Feels secure on my foot. Dual Velcro fasteners are convenient and effective. - Comfortable after being broken in. - Good bouldering shoe, offering a balance between edging and smearing performance. - Very competitive price. Cons: - Leather insoles are disintegrating after only a year of use. Climbing shoes are designed to be re-soled and used for a long time, but these have failed unrepairably before the original soles have even worn out once. - The blue dye from the leather never stops leaching out. My feet are stained blue after every climbing session. Fortunately, it washes off with soap, water and some scrubbing. For some reason, the yellow dye doesn't seem to cause nearly as much of an issue. - The heel straps that help you put the shoe on are badly designed. Most shoes have the straps on the outside of the leather, but these are sewn on the inside, where they sit against your skin. Since climbing shoes are tight-fitting, the straps and associated stitching create a pressure point that always chafes. Took me six months before my skin stopped having sores where the straps are. - The glue used to hold the shoe together isn't durable enough. The outer sole is starting to detach slightly at the vamp (where the shoe bends up at the front) because that's a natural pressure point. Fortunately, this doesn't impact the performance of the shoe at all. More surprisingly, I feel like the inner sole is starting to delaminate slightly, possibly explaining why it has disintegrated so quickly. - Heels feels a bit too big for me, but that's probably an individual fit issue.

used for 8 weeks and lost their shape

Unfortunately, after using these shoes once a week for a month and a half they have already completely lost their shape. I'm already looking to get a new pair but not purchasing these again. Makes me sad to have wasted my money.

Shoe shape

Arch shape, asymmetrical and significant tension in the heel (moderate level). This shape provides a high level of precision and power during your movements and optimises contact on small holds. Please note: this shape, suited to highly technical climbing, may reduce foot comfort slightly (especially on Greek-shaped feet). This is why we have chosen a moderate level to combine comfort and performance.

Intermediary and exterior XS GRIP Vibram® rubberXS Grip is a soft rubber with a very good grip for good grip sensations, especially on flat or rounded holds.

breathable lorica® synthetic leather (flexible and precise) in forefoot areas, leather upper. Fastens with 2 rip-tabs.

Sizing recommendations

If you are a climber working to improve your skills, you can buy them tighter (1/2 -1 size below normal, for example), but it's important they don't hurt, so that your foot can develop mobility, proprioception, and strength. If you are an advanced climber, we suggest you take the time to try different sizes (1 to 2 sizes below normal) to find the best compromise between comfort and compression for more force when pushing off.

Care instructions

Our 1st tip is to never machine-wash your shoes. Thermal and mechanical stress could damage them. We recommend that you wash them by hand, either with a sponge soaked in clean water or with a sponge soaked in soapy water (Marseille soap), being sure to air-dry them at a stable temperate and avoid drying them on a radiator or in direct sunlight. We recommend washing them regularly to increase the life span of the shoes.

Resoling tips

Did you know? The better a rubber’s grip, the more it wears out, especially in indoor climbing. This is why we have chosen to work with a specialist recognised in the market since 1937, Vibram, and have carefully selected the rubber offering the best balance between durability and grip. Our tests show that on average, rubber wears away in 6 months, on the front and/or top of the shoes. This can be even quicker, depending on how you place your feet."
