Good for warm nights

Bought as a summer camping bag for a middle aged man who feels hot in most bags. First few nights at 16 -18 deg were good and cooler than my previous 2-3 season bag due to cotton lining. Then we had a night dropping to 10-12 deg and the bag needed a coat over it to keep warm enough. So it’s good for overnight temps above 14 I feel. Also hadn’t appreciated that the top 20 cms is just a flap and doesn’t zip up or connect at the sides. Cool but might be draughty on cool nights for taller folk. Feels less well made than my Vango but is fine for the price.

Mollig Warm bei genau 20°C

Hatte ihn beim Camping auf Zingst dabei. Zum Glück hatte es durchgehend 20°C. Wunderbar kuschellig!

Use temperature

We display the comfort temperatures on all our sleeping bags, tested by an independent laboratory (AITEX) in compliance with European standard ISO 23537-1 from 21/01/2017. The comfort temperature is the lower limit at which an individual is generally in thermal equilibrium and feels neither too cold nor too hot in a relaxed pose (for a standard woman and in normal conditions of use).Choose your sleeping bag accordingly.

What is the comfort limit temperature?

Limit temperature is the lower limit at which an individual is generally in thermal equilibrium in the foetal position in their sleeping bag, and feels neither too cold nor too hot (for a standard man and in normal conditions of use).

What you need to know about temperatures

A sleeping bag does not produce heat but retains the heat produced by the body. If you are exhausted and cold and you slip inside a cold, damp sleeping bag, it is likely that you will feel cold no matter how good your sleeping bag is! These temperatures therefore depend on the person's resistance to cold (body type, fatigue, etc.), equipment (mattress with ground insulation, etc.), clothing (naked, underwear, etc.) and weather conditions (humidity, wind, etc.).

Tips before getting into your sleeping bag

Dress simply (one layer of clothing is enough). Keep your head, hands and feet warm: use hats, gloves, socks, bed warmers, rubbing, etc. A flask filled with hot water can be used as a hot water bottle (if it can't open by accident!). Contract your muscles (70 % of the energy consumed is transformed into heat). However, you should do this without moving as this can cause draughts of cold air.To avoid washing your sleeping bag too often, we recommend you use a sleeping bag liner.

A score for comparing the products' environmental impact

The environmental impact of the product is calculated over its entire life cycle and using various indicators. An overall ABCDE score is given to help you easily identify products with the best environmental performance by comparing products of the same type (t-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is committed to displaying the environmental information of its products.
