Best buy excellent.

This is the best buy I have had, Excellent quality, great for over a rucksack and pocket entries so you can reach your garments underneath. Draw string round the hood, good length to the knee I'm 5 foot 6 and went just past knee for me. Actual sleeves too. Reflective strip on back. Waterproof pouch to store. Highly recommend.

My own personal tent!

This is not a bad thing. I bought an XL to make sure it covered down to my knees. There is nothing worse than rain dripping down my bum. It's not just been used for hiking. It's now my goto for when I go to watch football.

Poor poncho

Either not designed for British weather or just not waterproof.

Works not stylish :-)

Excellent at keeping you and your rucksack dry on those rainy days. Also good for the rainy/snowy days when skiing and much cheaper than a storm jacket.

Good Value Poncho

My wife did not need it a lot but, when required, it did the job.

Used for west highland way trek

Was used over few days hike of the west highland way in Scottish highlands. Walking 8 hrs a day in heavy rain on the last 2 days hike, worked as it should rucksack and clothes underneath were dry. Unpacks quickly when needed from own bag.i'm 5'10 and it covers down to just below my knee while carrying a 30ltr pak.

Rain Cape

Not as good as a previous cape of 4years ago would prefer alight green colour and a peak on the hood with cuffs fitted with is easy to carry folded.

Ideal waterproof for an outdoor photographer

I purchased this product as I had one before but lost it on a photographic foray. This item covers me and equipment in virtually any weather. I can use it as a portable hide and a ground sheet. The only downside is it could be longer as it only comes to the top of me wellies. I used to have a waxed riding coat which covered right down to the ankles of my boots. Maybe in the future this product could be longer in length.

Dry but hot.

The hiking poncho is certainly water proof! It did a great job on a recent 3 day hike in NZ. My only criticism is it gets very hot inside, especially if you're hiking up hill. There's no ventilation with this version, so you stay dry from the rain but get a little damp from sweat..

Fit and sizing information

Good coverage for hikersbetween 156 and 166 cm in height in size XSbetween 167 and 176 cm in size S/Mbetween 177 and 190 cm in size L/XLand wearing a backpack with a capacity of 0 to 40 litres. The hood can be tightened using an elasticated cord and a stopper. The ends of the sleeves are cuffed with an elastic binding that prevents water from entering your sleeves. This rain cape is easy to get on and off thanks to its long front zip, by easily letting the head through.

Additional recommended products

To complement your outfit, a pair of waterproof over trousers or gaiters is recommended to protect your lower legs perfectly. For greater breathability, the waterproof hat can also be attached to the poncho!

Component waterproofing

The resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of a water column in mm that can be supported by the fabric (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric.Components with a 2,000 mm rating can withstand the pressure of a 2,000 mm column of water (which is equivalent to a rain shower lasting 2 hours).

Waterproofing of the garment

This garment has been validated in a shower test under 60 litres of water / m² / hour for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a rain shower in the mountains.

Component breathability

To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity can escape and the higher the fabric's breathability. For example:RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric9 < RET < 12 = very breathable fabric12 < RET < 20 = breathable fabricRET > 20 = little or no breathability.RET of this cape = 11.

Water-repellent property of the component

The water-repellent property of a fabric is its capacity to make water run off its surface without absorbing it.As a result, the fabric does not soak up water and stays light, breathable and warm.A fabric is made water-repellent by applying a treatment to its outer surface. This treatment needs to be renewed throughout the lifetime of the garment (every 3 washes). All Quechua ponchos and capes have a water-repellent treatment.

A score for comparing the products' environmental impact

The environmental impact of the product is calculated over its entire life cycle and using various indicators. An overall ABCDE score is given to help you easily identify products with the best environmental performance by comparing products of the same type (t-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is committed to displaying environmental information about its products. For more information:

We recommend you use a re-waterproofing product (spray or liquid)To renew the fabric's water repellent-properties and optimise the garment's performance throughout its lifetime.
