Each lens absorbs a proportion (a few percent) of the light passing through it. With several optical components, the quantity absorbed is significant. This requires a treatment to be applied to each component to reduce the proportion absorbed. But every treatment represents a cost. And the more effective the treatment, the more expensive it is. Binoculars are therefore designed to carefully balance effectiveness and price.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch4\u003eImage quality 2\u003c\/h4\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe binoculars here have a BK7 porro prism with an aluminium coating and lenses with an MC treatment: multi-coated treatment on one or several surfaces to increase light transmission.\n\nThese 2 treatments transmit 70% of light as well as providing good contrast and colour rendition during the day, and good brightness at dusk.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch4\u003eBrightness and use\u003c\/h4\u003e\u003cp\u003eFor occasional use, in daylight for a wide field of vision or in twilight for sufficient brightness, the Porro 10x50 binoculars are extremely practical. They’ll allow you to observe all kinds of animals at any time. Take note of the weather and avoid the rain, as they’re not watertight.\nThey are lightweight yet with moderate volume, and are therefore very well-suited to short trips outdoors.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch4\u003eExit pupil\u003c\/h4\u003e\u003cp\u003eA human pupil varies from 2 mm to 3 mm during the day, from 4 mm to 5 mm at dusk, and from 6 mm to 7 mm in the dark. This makes it important to choose a pair of binoculars with an exit pupil that covers your entire pupil, in order to make full use of their luminosity depending on your needs. The 10x50 binoculars have a 5 mm exit pupil, making them well suited to being used at dusk.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch4\u003eTIPS FOR THOSE WHO WEAR GLASSES AND SHARPNESS ADJUSTMENT\u003c\/h4\u003e\u003cp\u003eTwist up eyecups for spectacle wearers.\nFor non-spectacle wearers, twist out the eyecups as far as they will go. For spectacle wearers, twist the eyecups down to the binocular body.\n\nTo obtain a clear, sharp image of the observed animal, turn the central focusing knob to the left or right until you get a sharp image.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch4\u003eADJUSTMENT OF DIOPTRE COMPENSATION\u003c\/h4\u003e\u003cp\u003eTo compensate for difference in visual acuity between your eyes:\nClose your right eye and focus on an object about metres away using the central knob. Once the object is sharp, close the other eye and repeat the operation, this time using the dioptre correction ring located near the right eyecup. The difference between your eyes is now compensated for.
