What is ZIPROTEC?
At Decathlon, we make it a priority to offer you products that make your children's lives easier and protect them. ZIPROTEC enables you to pair the jacket with the junior mountain biking, skiing and snowboarding back protector – DBCK 500 JR (8585102).
It's simple, ZIPROTEC is
_ An additional zip on the inside of the jacket,
_ A hook at the top of the back of the jacket.
So, no need to worry, has your child got their jacket on? If so, they are protected from any bumps.
Advantages of the ZIPROTEC feature
_ freedom:you attach the back protector to your child's jacket in the evening or at the beginning of the ski trip. In the morning, when you leave (it’s always a rush), if your child has their jacket on, then they have their back protector on: they are protected
_ comfort:you forget wearing the back protector, it follows your body's movements and most importantly, it doesn’t ride up
_ practice:during the lunch break, if they take off their jacket, they also remove the back protector, all at once.
Stops snow from getting inside - generally
This kids’ snowboard jacket (or kids’ ski jacket, that works too) is designed to stop snow getting inside:
_ on the back: snow skirt + long cut
_ wrists (very exposed area): long sleeves + cuffs with thumb holes to stop snow from entering
_ at the neck: collar with a high gusset / hood with a rip-tab to keep it rolled up in the upper position and to protect the neck.
The hood can also be worn over a helmet.
Stops snow from getting inside - focus on the very sensitive wrist area
This jacket has been developed and tested with the MI 500 JR PROTECT snowboard mittens which go under the jacket so that kids can easily pass the mittens through the sleeve on their own (from 8 years upwards - at 6 years old it's still complicated). Then there are a host of features to keep the snow out
1. jacket sleeve with thumb loop to prevent the sleeve riding up,
2. the mitten reaches high up the wrist,
3. the jacket sleeve then covers everything.
Warmth
This jacket has two different types of wadding to provide just the right level of warmth:
_ 150 g/m² for the body, with a fleece lining,
_ 100 g/m² on the sleeves.
Waterproofing
As well as the waterproof fabric, we enhance the waterproofing of our kids' snowboard jackets, or our kids’ ski jackets, with taped seams. These are heat-bonded waterproof strips placed on the seams inside the clothing to make it perfectly watertight.
On this SNB JKT 500 jacket, 100% seams are taped.

This Decathlon kids’ snowboard jacket is designed for regular to intensive snowboarding, so it has all the pockets required:
_ 2 side pockets closed with a zip,
_ 1 external chest pocket closed with a zip,
_ 1 interior mesh pocket for a buff, goggles, etc.
_ 1 ski pass pocket on the left sleeve closed with a zip.
Hood rolled under the helmet
When snowboarding, snow can get in the jacket during a fall. To limit this unpleasant experience, the collar and hood were designed together.
So that the hood can be used as a scarf and keep the snow out, fold the hood in four and secure it with the rib-tab fastener it so that it stays up and fills the gap under the helmet.
The collar must be closed normally, up to the top to keep everything tight.
Hood over the helmet
The hood of this jacket is designed to fit over a helmet in case of strong winds, heavy snowfall, etc.
In this position, open the collar of the jacket by about 10 cm, pull the hood over the helmet and simply close the collar with the gusset (rib-tab fastening). The gusset creates a well-protected area for the mouth and nose.
How should you dress your kids to ensure they don't get cold on the slopes?
To make sure you stay warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-layer rule:
{1}- Layer 1 or a second skin, to stay dry.
- Layer 2 or an insulating layer, to keep the heat in.
- Layer 3 or a protective layer to protect against the elements.
How can I be sure that my jacket is strong and durable?

Water often gets in through the seams. Does my jacket have taped seams?
In addition to the waterproof fabric, we reinforce the waterproofing of the jacket with taped seams. These are heat-bonded waterproof strips placed on the seams inside the clothing to make it perfectly watertight. This product has 100% taped seams.
How to wash the jacket?
The water-repellent feature makes water run off the fabric without seeping in thanks to a treatment applied to its outer surface. The fabric does not soak up water and stays light and warm. This treatment must be renewed during the life of the product, after 2 to 3 washes on average, using products available in our stores. All the waterproof jackets that we design for snowboarders are water repellent.

How will my jacket keep me warm?
To keep the kids warm, we use wadding insulation. Wadding is a synthetic component made from polyester which stores more or less air, depending on the length of the fibres. Wadding can be standard, hi-tech or silicone-coated, each with different properties (warmth, low weight, elasticity, etc.)
How do I look after my product?
To optimise the performance and durability of your product, we recommend: Machine wash separately at 30°C. Synthetic cycle. Turn the product inside out. Use a small amount of detergent. No softener. Wring by hand. Dry on a hanger in a warm, well-ventilated place. Do not dry clean. Do not place on a radiator. You can restore the water resistance of the outer fabric using a fabric waterproofing spray.
Repairs
This product can be repaired.
We commit to repairing your product free of charge for the duration of the warranty. Whether it's tears, seams, zips, etc. These solutions will be available in your nearest store.
However, if we can't repair your product (production defect), we will exchange it or reimburse you.
How does my product warranty work?
This product is guaranteed for 5 years from the sale date indicated on the receipt. A product covered by warranty will be repaired or exchanged free of charge. The warranty covers product defects excluding those resulting from normal wear and tear and improper use.
