Why do these trousers claim to be “eco-designed”?
The main component of these trousers is polycotton: cotton (77%) and polyester blend.The cotton used is completely organically produced without the use of chemical fertilizers or GMOs and using 2 times less water than traditionally grown cotton.As for the polyester, it is recycled from plastic waste such as plastic bottles for example.
Protection from the sand
These trousers are designed for treks in the desert and particularly sand deserts.To stop sand getting in, they have:- a lightweight gaiter (invisible if you do not need them) that attaches to the laces of the Desert 500 boots.- a ""storm"" pocket to protect your telephone or fragile objects, inspired by canyoning bags (sand-proof)To get the sand out of other pockets, they have a mesh bottom.
UV PROTECTION: WHAT DOES UPF 40 MEAN?
The UPF index (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) corresponds to tests carried out on fabric by a spectrophotometer.UPF 40 means that only 1/40th of UV rays penetrated the fabric, one of the highest protection levels against the sun's rays.
A CUT TAILORED TO HOT CLIMATES
For greater comfort, these trousers have a wide fit, unlike most hiking trousers.As a result, the fabric does not stick to the skin, lets air circulate and reduces perspiration.Moreover, the wide cut means you don't feel restricted by fabric when seated.
