The 2 part design is useless if the space for the screws is too wide. Recent ride I thought my cleat had snapped (thankfully a few miles from the end of a 34 mile ride). In closer inspection it looks like the plastic of the back section got loose of the screws (tightly fitted) and simply dropped off. Very lucky that this happened when it did.
