Water repellency

The water repellent property of a fabric is its ability to enable water to run off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from becoming waterlogged and remains light, breathable and warm. The water-repellent property is obtained by applying a treatment to the outer surface of the fabric. This treatment needs to be reactivated during the lifetime of the garment when it is washed. All Wed’ze jackets have received a water-repellent treatment.

Component's waterproof properties.

The resistance of a fabric is measured using water pressure expressed in water column mm (test based on ISO 811). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. For example, a fabric with a waterproof rating of 10000 mm is therefore resistant to the pressure exerted by a 10000 mm column of water

Breathability of a component.

To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity can escape and the higher the fabric's breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 9 < RET < 12 = very breathable fabric / 12 < RET < 20 = breathable fabric / RET > 20 = little or no breathability.

What is a membrane or coated component?

The coating is like paint applied to the inside of the fabric making the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It is often less costly than a membrane, and requires a lining for protection. The membrane is a kind of very thin plastic film (polyurethane) that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the advantage of being more flexible, lighter, more durable and often more breathable than a coating.

How do we make a garment waterproof?

In addition to the breathability of the fabrics used, we use technical solutions (zips, vents, mesh, etc.) that improve the overall ventilation our jackets and trousers designed for Freeride skiing or All-mountain use. These ventilation systems regulate the temperature inside the garment while also helping to eliminate the perspiration generated by the body during physical activity.

Waterproofness/shower test

This garment has been validated in a shower test under 60 L of water / sqm / hour for 2 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a rain shower in the mountains.

What is the recco® system?

All our Freeride and All-Mountain jackets and trousers are equipped with the RECCO® system. With RECCO® technology, you can be located in the event of an avalanche. Someone who is equipped with RECCO® reflectors and is buried in the snow can be quickly and accurately located by the emergency services using the RECCO® tracker. RECCO® reflectors are not a substitute for an AVD. The RECCO® technology works as a complementary measure, increasing the chances of being found in time.

Great ski pants

Wore these skiing for a week, the air vents on the legs are great and they were really comfortable and warm. The only negative is that they were quite long, but very easy to roll up.

Salopettes

The salopettes were warm and comfortable. Didn't rain so can't comment on the waterproof material.

AMAZING!

These trousers are so comfortable and warm! I bought a size UK 6, usually being a UK 8, and they fit large around the waist but perfect on the legs just so i can bend and move around comfortably. The largeness around my waist is fine as it gives me space to grow and after a big lunch i’ll probably need the space!! The sides have tightening straps so i can deal with the bigness easily but if you don’t want to do that i would get a size 4 as that fits perfect around the waist but is just tight when you bend your knees. I would highly recommend these salopettes but defiantly try them on before hand if you can. If you want my height and weight for your own idea of what size you should get, here they are: Height: 5’8ft Weight: 55kg Normal size worn: UK 8 Size bought: UK 6 - large around the waist but perfect length.
