Beware warranty

The boots are ok but the upper lace clasp broke after a few months and well within the warranty. Managed to get a replacement pair but not before decathlon staff at Brighton had suggested I had damaged the shoes deliberately in order to get a refund. Dreadful customer service.

They are a liability

I had a pair of decathlon shoes that last almost 10 years and I loved them. I bought these ones thinking they would last as long, but I have to get rid of them since they are terrible. If you don't tie your laces and do even just a few steps, the metal clips that are on the sides act as "hooks". Since the untied shoe is very wide, the hooks catch each other's shoe, get tangled up and lead you to tumble. Of course, if you tie your shoes properly, this won't happen, but if you're camping and need use the toilet in the middle of the night, these shoes are the best recipe for a disaster.

Good walking boots

Very comfortable walking boots, not really been tested in the rain yet.

Outstanding

I bought these boots around 4 years ago. Since then I've done two trips to Iceland, two trips to the Scottish Highlands, and countless trips to the Lake/Peak district - not to mention various miscellaneous walking activities here and there. These boots have got more than their fair share of use and they've been superb. Can't recommend them enough. They're pretty much good as new, I've only had to replace the laces as they eventually broke which mustn't detract from the quality of this boot. Of all my possessions I believe these boots have given me by far and away the best return on investment.

Great waterproof boots

Very light and comfortable waterproof boots. They've already covered the Lake District peaks of Bowfell and Helvellyn. So comfortable and sturdy. I would definitely recommend.

Great Boots

Great for getting up and down Scottish Mountains on the weekends (in summer conditions). They have a great level of water resistance and are by far some of the most comfortable boots I have owned.

Very comfortable

Great boot very comfortable for walking and was very capable with light climbing/scrambling

New walking boots for child 2

Wider footed child says these are sturdy, comfortable and warm. Not yet confirmed waterproofness. She preferred these over any of the women’s options offered.

Good, with room for improvement

+ve: Good value, lightweight, good ankle support reasonably comfortable, -ve: Not enough toe wiggle room so can pinch a little in thick socks on a long walk.

Hiking boots

Tongue was to short so when laced up would rub into your skin poor show

How waterproof are these boots?

This boot has been validated by a waterproofing test at 10,000 repeatable flexes, i.e. 10 km - 3 hours of walking, in water up to the mid-upper, which today guarantees a very good level of waterproofing for your boots.--> Our assessment indicates a LEVEL OF 2/5 giving 3 hours of waterproofing when hiking in the rain. The details of tests carried out to assess the waterproofing of our boots is below.

Waterproofing test

Footwear waterproofing test: tested in the laboratory and genuine usage conditions, equipped with waterproof and breathable layer, to offer excellent protection from the rain. Our Field Test Missions team up the product manager with people who aren't affiliated with QUECHUA, to test, improve, and validate our products. Next, shoes are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.

3 levels of waterproofing

During the waterproofness test, we test 5 levels of waterproofness: 2,000 flexes (approximately 4 km ,30 minutes of walking) 10,000 flexes (approximately 10 km ,3 hours of walking) 30,000 flexes (approximately 15 km ,6 hours of walking) 50,000 flexes (approximately 20 km ,8 hours of walking)100,000 flexes (approximately >20 km ,24 hours of walking)

Lab tests

Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: - tearing of the eyelets and straps- bonding of the sole- toxicology- UV resistance- abrasion of the sole and components of the upper- accelerated ageing.

Buying tips

Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Gradually start using you shoes during your first few hiking trips to break them in.

Manufacturing

The Trekking 100 boots are made in the European Union, in Romania. Most materials are of European origin.
