Use

A bag cover, also called a “bivy bag”, is a protective cover bigger than a sleeping bag. Just slide inside with your sleeping bag, or mattress if you prefer, and you are protected from the outdoors. It serves as protection for your equipment and against adverse weather conditions. You can sleep under the stars or combined with a tarp. It provides a minimalist shelter.

Moisture and humidity management

A waterproof fabric is used for this bag cover to protect you from rain, wind and bad weather.A breathable fabric (RET 7) has been used for this sleeping bag to prevent moisture getting inside. Nevertheless, during humid nights, it is possible, normal and natural to notice some dampness inside the bag cover, due to humidity inside and in the air.

Style

"Generous" mummy shape: wide at the shoulders and tapered at the feet, this optimises the weight and compactness against protection and thermal insulation (heat loss prevention), whilst keeping a certain freedom of movement.Shoulder width 70 cm, foot height 31 cm.Wide opening - hood with drawstring. Long zip for ease of entry and exit; watertight zip with protective flap.

Weight and dimensions

One size; users up to 2m. Length of the zip 150 cm.Total weight 400 gSize when folded: W 18 cm x 25 cm x 1 cm.Size of the cover 1 litre.Volume & dimensions can vary according to the pressure applied to the product.

Storage

The bag cover folds away easily by holding the pocket at the bottom, upside down. No need to fold the bag cover, just put it into the pocket. Begin at the bottom of the bag, the feet, then turn the pocket back around the right way. Finish by putting the remainder of the bag cover in its pocket any old how.

strongly disagree with removing this from stock

I absolutely hate buying gear on other stores This was essential to all treks You have to return this to stock

Seems a good choice for under a tarp

I've only used this inside so far as the most important thing for me was breathability - which was absolutely fine. I'm 185cm (6'1") and about 110kg, the fit was fine with a Rab Solar Eco 4 (long) - which I think is the same dimensions and cut as the Assent. The material is light and it packs well - but its not nice against your skin so I wouldnt recommend with a quilt (but fine with a sleeping bag). The zip gives very easy access, but is only secured at the top and centre with velcro and is a basic zip (not waterproof) - I wouldnt trust this is direct rain so probably best used for splash protection under a tarp or to protect against dew. Thats what I expected so I'm happy. If you want more reliable protection I'd look elsewhere.

New Bivibag

Arrived in goo order in its built in pouch, nice fabric fine ripstop, good design and stitching, well seamsealed. The zip is on the top and does not look to be waterproof but I have tested it with a litre of water over the zip and no water gets through, theres a storm flap to cover it but only has 1 tiny square of velcro half way down so does not really do much. the design, fabrics and stitching are all great . price is also very good. I am 180 cm and 150 pounds so not a big guy and it fits me, my mat and down bag in there.
